Answer 3 Questions And Create The Perfect Blog Post

I did a search recently for information on what constitutes a 'perfect' blog post.
I found advice on layout, bullet points, length, images and much more. Although these are all important, they are not the most important considerations.

In my view, the three most crucial points are often overlooked. I subscribe to several blogs in my areas of interest and I really don't care about super duper design and layout as long as the blogger is answering these 3 questions for me:
Who is my niche i.e who am I writing for? What would they care about the most? How can I best give it to them?
For example, via video, audio, photos or simple copy.
Let's take a look at these in more detail using myself as a hypothetical holiday property owner and blogger.
Let's say I run a gîte complex in France. I'm also a keen runner and enter races and events in France. I realise that many other runners would enjoy this experience and decide to create a specialised offering at my property to hold a 'Runner's Week' twice a year.
Who is my niche i.e who am I writing for?As I'm reasonably knowledgeable about the sport and feel confident that I understand the needs and aspirations of my fellow runners I will focus on intermediate and advanced runners. What would intermediate and advanced runners care about the most?
Some ideas would be:
- Training
- Running times
- Avoiding injury
- The terrain
- Diet
- Events
I do believe that the best posts cover just one subject at a time so immediately I have here ideas for at least 6 related blog posts. My job now is to choose one topic for my current blog post. I decide on 'diet'.
Eating choices and patterns are very important to avid runners especially on race day and the days leading up to it. I decide to base my blog post around the food offered at my gîte complex, how it's prepared and served and reasons for choice. How my food will benefit the guest runner staying with me.
How can I best give it to them?
I now consider video, audio, photos and copy.
As food preparation and presentation is highly visual then both video and photos seem an obvious choice here for maximum impact. I decide to make a video of 3 dishes in preparation and then to photograph the finished dishes.
I'll keep the wording in my blog post to a minimum to avoid detracting from the visual impact of my video and images.
And that's it! I'll direct my readers to my website where they can find full details of my all inclusive Runner's Weeks.
Try addressing these 3 questions whenever you're sitting down to create a blog post. You may be pleasantly surprised by how focused you become and ultimately able to produce your posts in double quick time.
By following this format your blog will become essential reading for your eager audience.
